Volunteer Vacancy – Young Carers Project Volunteer – Congleton
Starting this summer, just a couple of hours a week of your time could make a huge difference to young carers in Cheshire East. If you are good at listening, talking and enjoy meeting new people then Crossroads Together could have the perfect volunteer opportunity for you.
Role title: Young Carers Project Volunteer
Responsible to: Young Carers Project Worker
Hours of volunteering: 3-6 hours a month
Place of work: Congleton
As a Young Carers volunteer, you will be required to:
- Take responsibility for ensuring that activities are safe and enjoyable for the young people in the group
- Maintain client confidentiality
- Attend the group(s) on a regular basis
- Work as part of a team for the benefit of the young people in the group, to support other volunteers and the group leader as appropriate – e.g. encouraging participation, supporting with activity delivery, assisting with session paper work and ensuring young carers leave having had a positive experience.
- Work within safeguarding guidelines as per instruction or training, and hold this as the highest priority at all times
Skills and Experience:
- Any experience of interpersonal work or youth work would be useful but not essential as the role is to work under the instruction of the group co-coordinator with youth work experience
- Skills you would like to share with us at the sessions i.e. arts/crafts would be desirable
- Own transport to attend groups is required
- The ability or willingness to engage and converse with young people from all backgrounds across a broad age range important

A DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) check is required for this role. This takes approximately two weeks and it’s free for volunteers.
